A bio-psycho-social-spiritual reset that treats the whole girl

Healing the whole family system with intensive weekends

90-day transition bridge to ensure a successful return home

Watching your daughter struggle with alcohol is frightening for any parent. You may be fearing the next phone call from school or feel like you’re walking on eggshells.

Our program offers specialized teen alcohol treatment for girls 13–17. It’s a calm, nature-based environment where they can pause, reflect, and begin a new chapter.

Located a short drive away in Argyle, our ranch serves families across the Austin area who are ready to move from crisis to connection.

When to consider treatment for your daughter

In Austin’s high-stress environment, some girls turn to alcohol to cope. When your home life has become a cycle of secrecy and conflict, it’s a sign she’s in crisis mode.

  • Academic struggles.
  • Strained family bonds
  • Anxiety, feelings of worthlessness, or withdrawal
  • Self-destructive habits
  • Self-harm or risky social choices

At Roots, we help families move past surface behaviors to treat the complex trauma underneath. We replace your daughter’s fear with a convicted belief that she is worthy.

Our unique approach to healing

Our teen alcohol treatment program was founded based on lived experience with loss and recovery, which is why we lead with compassion rather than shame.

Our nature-based clinical reset is not about “fixing” a child but about helping her rediscover who she truly is.

  • Relational healing: We don’t use tough love. We use connection and natural consequences to help girls rediscover their true selves.
  • The root cause: Our 8 clinical focus weeks tackle the why behind the drinking—focusing on themes like shame resilience and grief.
  • The power of OT: In our occupational therapy, girls practice real-world tangible skills that stick when they return home.

Daily structure and the path to stability

We replace the chaos of a struggling home with a calm, predictable rhythm built on the Healthy Mind Platter. This science-based approach balances seven types of daily activity to help her nervous system heal and her brain reset.

  • Morning connection: Every day begins with the Morning Huddle and time with animals like Alfredo the donkey.
  • Focused growth: Roots Reads and classroom time keep her mind sharp and her future on track.
  • Nourishing community: We enjoy scratch-made, meals as a ranch family.
  • Active recovery: From hiking our many trails to archery and “sober fun,” we teach her to find joy without substances.
  • Restorative down time: The space her brain needs to process deep clinical work, so she can find lasting peace.

  • Nature-based growth: Activities like archery, hiking on our 40 acres, and equine therapy help girls reconnect with their bodies and build self-worth.
  • Weekly themes: Clinical rotations cover essential topics like shame, vulnerability, and boundaries.
  • Expressive therapies: Using art, music, and yoga to help girls process emotions in creative ways.

Frequently asked questions

We are a licensed residential treatment center (RTC) with a 16-bed capacity. Unlike group homes that offer basic supervision, we provide a high-level bio-psycho-social-spiritual reset focused on medical safety and intensive trauma therapy.

We serve teen girls between the ages of 13 and 17 who are struggling with substance use or mental health concerns.

While many families enjoy visiting the ranch, we can facilitate weekly family sessions via phone or video to ensure you stay connected.

At Roots, we don’t view alcohol use in isolation. We treat the whole girl through a bio-psycho-social-spiritual lens. Because substance use is often a way to numb the pain of complex trauma, anxiety, or depression, we focus on healing the root cause. By calming the nervous system through our Healthy Mind Platter and addressing co-occurring mental health struggles, we help girls move from survival mode to a place of lasting emotional stability.

We incorporate recovery-oriented supports like Smart Recovery and AA, but we ground them in our clinical model to treat the underlying trauma first.

We use a blend of advanced clinical modalities and hands-on, nature-based healing. Your daughter’s care plan may include accelerated resolution therapy (ART), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), occupational therapy, and experiential therapies (such as equine, archery, and gardening).

To allow the brain to reset and to foster deep connection with herself and her peers, the ranch is a technology-reset environment. While residents do not keep personal cell phones or laptops, we provide technology for supervised schoolwork and scheduled family communication.
